Found: Greatest Beverage Ever

In the middle of our Camino walk we took a day off in Pamplona to rest and explore the city. While out and about we wandered into a tiny little antique shop in Pamplona and within 2 minutes had found this gem:

DSCN7064

A bottle of Fockink Gin.

Are. You. Kidding. Me.

Who even knew such a wonder could exist? I mean, I think we’ve all heard of Effen Vodka, but that doesn’t hold a candle to this treasure since, as you look closer, you learn that Fockink is indeed the last name of one of the founders – not an edgy marketing decision. Plus it was apparently founded in 1679. That Fockink company has been around for a long time.

The bottle wasn’t even opened which meant that we could have purchased it, brought it home and spent an evening relaxing on the couch with a glass of Fockink Gin.

The glass was super thick so it weighed a ton but after we left the shop I spent the next hour or two trying to figure out how I could lug it around for the next week before trying to get it through customs and back into the States in one piece.

In the end, tragically, the bottle stayed on the shelf and we walked on to the next town, possibly never to return – but are we not richer for having loved and lost than to have never loved at all?

I think so.

you delite me. i grok u.
{as an aside i am considering lighting our patriarch’s castle with christmas done by a burner!! Intense flashing blue and red LEDs to mark the primary target: The Chimney, reason would beg me to forgoe the helium balloon holding
the synaptic evenescent shimmering lights from my beloved bicycle,
but the police couldn’t trace the source of the ultra-violet laser comming out of the chimney could they?}
